PORTSMOUTH ONE WIND (1.5 MW)
This 1.5 MW project consists of a single wind turbine located at the Portsmouth High School in Portsmouth, RI. The site formerly hosted a gearbox-based turbine that had been purchased by the town and was irreparable. The town took out a loan to purchase the turbine, which Green paid back on the town’s behalf in exchange for the right to replace the defunct turbine with a Vensys direct-drive turbine. The new turbine was erected and operational in August of 2016. Green owns and operates this turbine and sells power from the project to the Town of Portsmouth, the Portsmouth School Department, and the YMCA of Greater Providence through net metering credit purchase agreements.
