Farming is a key asset to the Rhode Island economy,
and we’re here to protect it.
A primary goal for Green Development is to collaborate with farmers and landowners who are interested in having wind power or solar power systems constructed on their land. We know that farmers are an incredibly important asset to the Rhode Island economy, and we always keep their interests in mind.
Make Your Land Work For You.
We work with farmers and landowners to find the best use for your undeveloped land, ensuring a more secure future for you and Rhode Island. So, don’t sell your land for development! Leasing your land to us provides you with substantial annual income, while keeping your land and farming in the family.
Working towards Rhode Island’s 2020 Renewable Energy goals, our eight completed projects and seven projects in construction are powering Rhode Island’s communities everyday. From Portsmouth to Coventry, North Kingstown to Johnston, we’re changing our state’s skyline and changing the future of each community.
It starts with a meeting. Green Development speaks to the landowners about their history with the land, they personals goals and any concerns.
We visit the property to locate property lines, complete desktop site plans, and check for any property characteristics that would prohibit the equipment. After assessment, we present a lease statement to the landowner.
Municipal & Utility Approval
We begin our third party diligence process including filing a utility interconnection application and RIDEM permitting, and meeting with the town to begin the local permitting process.
Power Purchaser Determination
Once the project is viable, we determine if the project should sell outright, enter into a power repurchasing agreement with a municipal or state entity, or enroll the project into the Renewable Energy Growth Program.
Equipment is ordered and the interconnection plan is finalized. Construction begins with the Green Development team overseeing each step to ensure best practices are met.
Generation of Renewable Energy
We turn on the equipment and it will produce clean, renewable energy for the life of the project.
While not all sites are equally-suited to hosting renewable energy solutions, we can meet you, inspect your property, determine proximity to the utility interconnection point, impact on neighboring properties, and other environmental and topographical considerations.
