Our Mission
We work with Rhode Island communities and public entities to plan and construct wind turbines, which deliver clean, reliable and inexpensive power. Since its incorporation in 2009, Wind Energy Development, LLC has operated with a focus on four key goals:
Increase Energy Security
Rhode Island currently imports the majority of its energy resources. Nearly 98% of those resources come from natural gas, which is produced out of state. The price of this resource increases in times of short supply. Wind Energy Development, LLC is committed to helping Rhode Island produce its own clean and renewable power to create a reliable energy supply for the state.
Lower Carbon Emissions
The turbines installed by Wind Energy Development, LLC have a considerable impact. Each turbine provides enough greenhouse gas emission reductions to equal the effect of taking 500 cars off the road, every year.  The first turbine, located in Mark DePasquale’s front yard, is both the first privately owned and first distributed generation (DG) turbine in the state. This turbine enables National Grid to distribute power to residents of
Preserve Farm Land in RI

By constructing individual wind turbine projects on willing farmers’ properties, our contract agreements ensure that these farmers will be able to operate on their land for many years to come. We rent a small area of land for the turbine and the farmers are paid a lease, which will provide additional annual income.

Boost Local Economies
Our turbines deliver power to towns and cities through a net metering program at a fixed, low rate. This will help them save millions of dollars over the course of our contract. Our direct-drive turbines are German-designed and will create jobs in the United States. This includes manufacturing components for turbines and servicing them after installation.
