WIND ENERGY
IN RHODE ISLAND
As the largest owner and operator of renewable energy solutions in Rhode Island, Green Development has worked with farmers, municipalities, housing authorities, schools, and non-profits since 2009 to produce wind energy in Rhode Island, for Rhode Island.
CHANGING OUR ENERGY MIX, CHANGING LIVES.
95% of our state’s energy is natural gas imported from Pennsylvania and New York, which is then distributed to New England through a pipeline system. Our efforts at Green Development increase investment in wind power systems, helping Rhode Island create its own power, build its energy security, and create local jobs.
In 2018, Green Development and Rhode Island led the nation in creating new distributed wind capacity, contributing 21 MW of the 50.5 MW added across the United States (2018 Distributed Wind Market Report, US Dept of Energy, p.4)
Working towards Rhode Island’s 2020 Renewable Energy goals, our eight completed projects and seven projects in construction are powering Rhode Island’s communities everyday. From Portsmouth to Coventry, North Kingstown to Johnston, we’re changing our state’s skyline and changing the future of each community.
